The Professional Futures Trading Stack: Sierra Chart, Interactive Brokers & Real Order Flow
Ask a struggling trader what they use and you get a list of indicators. Ask a professional and you get a stack — analysis, execution, data, and process, each chosen on purpose. The names that come up are not the ones in the ads: Sierra Chart, Interactive Brokers, NinjaTrader, Charles Schwab (thinkorswim), Tastytrade. Here is how the serious stack is built, and how ours works.
Analysis: Sierra Chart
The chart is where the edge is found. We run Sierra Chart for tick-level order flow, session and kill-zone structure, and our ACSIL signal engine — the same platform we use to backtest every strategy across 8+ years of CME data. Analysis and research happen in one place, on the same ticks we trade.
Execution & brokerage: IBKR / NinjaTrader / Schwab / Tastytrade
Serious traders separate analysis from execution. Interactive Brokers is the institution-grade choice for low commissions and global access; NinjaTrader pairs a strong futures brokerage with its own platform; Charles Schwab's thinkorswim and Tastytrade are the serious homes for options-aware traders. These are peers — professional venues — not the gamified apps the retail crowd starts on. WFF's methodology is built to sit alongside this tier, not below it.
Data: direct exchange feeds
The stack runs on real data — Denali, Rithmic, Teton, CQG, or IBKR over DTC. If your backtest data and your live data are different, your edge is fiction. Ours are the same.
Process: the part nobody sells
The final layer is not a product: it is a tested process. Define the edge mechanically, backtest it on years of real data with modeled costs, forward-test it on paper, size it by risk (we use 0.25% per trade), and only then consider capital. That discipline — straight out of Davey, Tharp, and López de Prado — is what turns a stack of professional tools into professional results.
Build the stack, not the indicator collection
If you want to trade like the desks, stop collecting indicators and start building the stack: a professional chart (Sierra Chart), a real broker (IBKR/NinjaTrader/Schwab/Tastytrade), real data, and a tested process. That is the level we operate at — and the level we help our members reach.
Trade like the desk, not the crowd
Every WFF signal is built and forward-tested in Sierra Chart with real order-flow and 8+ years of data — the same professional stack used at serious futures desks. See our LIVE, backtested strategies and get the playbook by email.
